SPECTRE crew spotted preparing London locations

The first to get attention was some scaffolding and some crew wearing Skyfall stunt crew jackets courtesy of The Establishing Shot. They spotted the work and took some photos of the preparations near Regents Park, where 007 was seen exercising in the Skyfall teaser trailer.

Also spotted by the Express photographers today was prep-work at what they suggest will be James Bond’s apartment, based in central London. Could the Bulldog that made  an appearance in the first of the SPECTRE clapperboard photos (a tradition the 24th film continues from Skyfall) be at Bond’s apartment, or perhaps in his MI6 office?

Studio execs worry about a shocking end to SPECTRE

And that’s not ‘schocking’ in a friendly Scottish lilt kind of way, that’s in a demand that the third act be rewritten kind of a way. According to spoilerific Gawker website, the entire script for SPECTRE, Bond 24, is on the darker edges of the internet thanks to Sony’s hackers.

We’re not shy of spoilers here at Bond24.net but this doesn’t feel much like sport. So if you want to see what the script was like circa August-October check out their post linked above.

The Return of SPECTRE

The Return of SPECTRE

SPECTRE may be back, but it is no guarantee of the return of its Number #1, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The press speculation is much as before, that Christoph Waltz will play the archvillain and the introduction of the Oscar-winning actor as Franz Oberhauser.

The producers and director, Sam Mendes, also confirmed the film would be headed to Mexico City, Rome, and Waltz’s native Austria.

The full press release can be read below.

James Bond Producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today released the title of the 24th James Bond adventure, SPECTRE. The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is directed by Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig, who returns for his fourth film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007. SPECTRE begins principal photography on Monday, December 8, and is set for global release on November 6, 2015.

Along with Daniel Craig, Mendes presented the returning cast, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear as well as introducing Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott. Mendes also revealed Bond’s sleek new Aston Martin, the DB10, created exclusively for SPECTRE.

A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

The 007 production will be based at Pinewood Studios, and on location in London, Mexico City, Rome and Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco. Bond will return to the snow once again, this time in Sölden, along with other Austrian locations, Obertilliach, and Lake Altaussee.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “We’re excited to announce Daniel’s fourth installment in the series and thrilled that Sam has taken on the challenge of following on the success of SKYFALL with SPECTRE.”.

Written by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, Director of Photography is Hoyte van Hoytema and Editor is Lee Smith. Production Designer, Dennis Gassner returns along with Costume Designer, Jany Temime and Composer, Thomas Newman. Action Specialist, Alexander Witt is the 2nd Unit Director. Stunt Coordinator is Gary Powell, SFX Supervisor is Chris Corbould, and Visual Effects Supervisor is Steve Begg.

Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, was a worldwide box office phenomenon, opening #1 in 70 territories around the world, taking over $1.1 billion worldwide and setting a new all-time box office record in the UK by becoming the first film to take over £100 million.

East Tyrol expecting filmmakers arrival on November 24th

bond_in_east_tyrollAs widely anticipated, production is on the verge of commencement for the still untitled new James Bond movie, Bond 24. Local press report that EON Productions, the makers of the Bond films, are arriving in East Tyrol on November 24th. Areas to house the crew and their vehicles are being assembled, according to Klein Zeitung in Austria.

Some guest houses have reported that the weather has delayed the arrival of key crew, and that reservations have been cancelled.

As is plain from the photos, the ground is layered in snow in Obertilliach – perfect conditions for shooting a winter 007 adventure.

Christoph Waltz pegged as Blofeld by British press

Christoph Waltz pegged as Blofeld by British press

The Daily Mail claim that the recently-cast Christoph Waltz will be taking over the role of the megalomaniacal villain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Responsible for the death of Bond’s wife, and renowned for some of the series’ best hideaways (including mountaintops and hollowed volcanos), the villain has to be the Moriarty of the film franchise.

The last time 007 went toe to toe with Blofeld in the official film series was For Your Eyes Only, although he was unnamed (for legal reasons) and featured only in the pre-credit sequence. MGM/EON subsequently reacquired the rights to Fleming’s famous character in 2013 when the McClory estate sold the rights.

christoph_waltz

Although Waltz is master-villain material, no evidence was let slip at the time of his casting that he would play Blofeld.

The Mail predicts a press conference (as is traditional at the start of shooting) but that the Bond family will not want their fans to know 007’s nemisis is back. Write the reporters:

[Waltz] is playing an unknown character called Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond…

Waltz, the paper’s anonymous Hollywood insiders claim, will actually play Blofeld.

Fleming has an Austrian connection – he spent part of his youth in Austria and Switzerland and learned to ski and mountain climb in the country’s mountains. Hans Oberhauser gets a mention in the novel, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Jeffery Wright won’t return to Bond 24

Jeffery Wright won’t return to Bond 24

As with Skyfall, there appears to be no part in Bond 24 for Bond’s brother from Langley.

In a new interview with /Film the two time Felix Leiter, Jeffrey Wright, confirmed he will be tied up with the Hunger Games franchise and has not been asked back for Sam Mendes’ Bond 24.

Says the actor:

Felix is going to be playing Beetee next fall or whenever it comes out.

This obviously does not preclude a recast by the 007 producer — and Mendes may want oversight over the casting of his Felix — but Wright still remains the obvious choice for the role if they wanted to re-introduce Leiter.

Camera rigs assembled in Morocco for Bond 24

Some of the contractors recently employed to conduct pre-production work in Morocco for 007’s 24th James Bond adventure posted a few pictures of the sophisticated rig they had assembled on location. Casablanca, Oujda and Tangiers have been rumored to be locations on Bond 24. 25 years ago, The Living Daylights made use of the Moroccan vistas when Ouarzazate doubled for an Afghanistan airbase.

Built this today! #bond24
